Curious how the famous Fondriest bikes are made? Visit the Fondriest factory and then stop by Francesco Moser’s winery for a sip of fine Italian wine.
Test-ride the latest Fondriest models during the tour for €50 per day.
Days 1-5: The Dolomites
The 2017 Fondriest Tour will start in Padua, 40km east of Venice. Please book your flight to Venice Marco Polo airport. We’ll pick you up at the airport and take you to Venice Hotel.
Our tour will begin on Monday 12 June with a visit to Cicli Esperia Spa in Padua. This is the home of Fondriest and Torpado and it is here we will meet our co-host Olympian and Italian MTB National Champion, Yader Zoli and the team that creates Fondriest bikes. After our factory tour, we’ll travel to our first base in Cles, the home of former Road World Champion Maurizio Fondriest.
Cles is in the province of Trentino in North Eastern Italy and the perfect place to acclimatize and get ready for the Italian Alps. Surrounded by the Dolomites, Trentino is the meeting place between northern and southern Europe and hosts a rich artistic, historical, and cultural heritage.
Maurizio, our second co-host, will meet us in Cles and guide some of our rides in the Dolomites which will average between 80 and 100 kilometres per day. While in Cles we will also visit Francesco Moser’s winery.
Days 6-10: The Italian Alps
Day 6 starts with a picturesque transfer from Cles to our second base in Bormio in the Italian Alps.
Situated in the Stelvio National Park, Bormio is a tourist hot spot in winter and summer. Well known since Roman times for its thermal baths, Bormio offers some of the world’s best known climbs.
The Stelvio and the Gavia passes are included in most editions of the Giro d’Italia and the proximity of other famous climbs such as the Mortirolo, Foscagno, Eira and Umbrail means that our week in Bormio will allow you to ride a new and challenging route every single day.
Rides in the Alps will average 100 kilometres per day with 2000-3000 metres of climbing. After breakfast on Day 11 we will provide transfers to the Bormio train station in Tirano so you can make your way to the airport for the next leg of your journey or to return home.
