Edoardo Bianchi started making bikes in Milan, Italy in 1885; making Bianchi the world’s oldest bike manufacturer.
Bianchi’s involvement in professional cycling began with the company’s sponsorship of Giovanni Tommasello, the winner of the Grand Prix de Paris in 1889. Bianchi has supported some of the most famous names in cycling, including Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi, Marco Pantani, Mario Cippolini, Jan Ulrich and Danilo Di Luca. Bianchi currently sponsors Team Lotto NL Jumbo.
Bianchi bicycles are traditionally painted celeste, a turquoise colour also known as Bianchi Green. Myths abound as to the origins of this colour with some saying Celeste is the Colour of the Milan sky, the eye colour of a former queen of Italy for whom Edoardo Bianchi made a bicycle and that it was a mixture of surplus military paint. Whichever story you believe the passion that celeste inspires is undeniable.
Mega Bike has a long standing connection with Bianchi; we look forward to sharing our passione celeste with you.
